Secure prototyping for the public sector

Government departments, defence and the wider public sector rarely get to move fast, and for good reason: the data is sensitive, the systems are old, and a failed change programme is expensive. We help them prove an idea first, in a controlled setting, so the decision to scale it is based on something that works rather than a slide.

A UK defence body asked us to build a prototype planning tool to support deployment planning. The work is covered by a non-disclosure agreement, so we cannot say more about it here. It is typical of what we are asked to do: something useful, quickly, within strict security requirements.

We work in short, fixed stages with a small team, and put a working prototype in front of the people who will use it as early as possible. Security is designed in from the start: tools that work without a connection where they need to, data that never leaves the environment it belongs in, and the legacy systems nobody else wants to touch connected through governed routes. Everything we build meets WCAG 2.2 AA as standard, and Contic holds Cyber Essentials Plus.
